In Brief

Get a business valuation locked in now – before the CGT rules change

From 1 July 2027, the removal of the 50% CGT discount will change how business disposals are taxed. If you are a business owner and a sale is somewhere in your future, you should consider getting a benchmark valuation in place as at that date. Having that information will mean a smoother process and sharper CGT planning when you are ready to exit, minimising any surprises at an early stage – and it may help you identify any gaps or opportunities within the business. Our assurance team can book it in and help you get it done.

Faces of BG

In July, we proudly announced 22 promotions across our business. At BG Private, we believe that strong client outcomes come from having the right people in the right roles – which is why we’re equally committed to growing talent from within and attracting fresh perspectives to our team.

This month, we’re excited to introduce Andrew Leigh, our new Associate Partner, Audit & Assurance. We got to know the man behind the title, watch here.

Client Spotlight

Client Spotlight celebrates the achievements of BG Private’s diverse client base – from business milestones to moments on the world stage.

Timmy Trumpet

Congratulations Timmy Trumpet – World’s No. 6 DJ and Tomorrowland Performer.

Proud to have been Timmy Trumpet’s worldwide business managers and supporters since 2016. We congratulate him on his standout performance at Tomorrowland Belgium 2026 – one of the largest and most iconic electronic dance music festivals in the world, drawing crowds of over 400,000 – and his No. 6 ranking in last year’s DJ Mag World’s Top 100. Here’s a snippet of his recent performance.

Karl Ritcher, Level Two

Our clients’ creativity at scale just got rewarded. Karl Ritcher’s music supervision and production house Level Two Music, took home the Gold Award for Best Use of Music at the 2026 AWARD Awards for Spark NZ’s “It’s Better with Spark” campaign – and followed up with Silver for Volkswagen’ “EV Batteries Included.” The AWARD Awards, run by the Australasian Writers and Art Directors, recognise the region’s best creative work across advertising, design, and beyond. For Karl and the team, it’s validation that the craft of marrying music to message isn’t lost in the noise – it’s exactly what cuts through. We’re backing creatives who understand their craft deeply, and Level Two’s work is proof that excellence still wins.
