Client Spotlight

TODAY

Client: Today – a design and technology studio for social innovation (50+ staff, $10m+ turnover)

Challenge: In May 2026, with Payday Super on the horizon, Today needed to shift payroll frequency from fortnightly to monthly. Beyond the mechanics of the change, they needed to manage the cashflow impact of the transition and communicate it clearly to a 50+ person team without disruption.

Approach: BG Private worked alongside Today to plan the transition end-to-end:

  • Cashflow planning and budgeting to manage the shift in pay timing
  • A change-management and communication plan for staff
  • Full review and backup of payroll data and leave balances
  • New pay frequencies set up in Xero and allocated across the team
  • Salaries updated from fortnightly to monthly in all pay templates
  • A test pay run to confirm wages and leave accruals reconciled correctly from fortnightly to monthly

Timing: The change was timed around a short out-of-cycle pay run on 30 June 2026, shifting staff from two weeks in arrears to two weeks in arrears plus two weeks in advance.

Result: A smooth transition ahead of Payday Super, with minimal impact on the team and payroll data fully reconciled and backed up throughout.

“Marc made a strong case to switch to monthly payroll; he helped us implement this change quickly and smoothly within a window that made the most sense for our business.” – Damon O’Sullivan, CEO, Today
