Tips for your CV

Your CV is where you can make a great first impression. Keep it short and easy to read. Don’t forget to include:

  • Your phone and email
  • Residency status
  • Home address
  • Your secondary and tertiary education, including results, relevant subjects, and any awards you won
  • Jobs you’ve had including casual or summer jobs, work experience and internships
  • Any extra-curriculars, for example, leadership roles at school or at a sports club, or any volunteering or charity work you do
Tips for your Cover Letter

Your Cover Letter can show how driven and committed you are. Cover things like:

  • Why you’ve chosen this career pathway
  • What you are looking for in a Graduate position
  • How you see your career progressing

Check spelling and grammar in both your CV and Cover Letter as we would like to see how you would communicate in a corporate environment.

Keep it short – one or two paragraphs are more than enough!

Tips for the interview

You may have one or two rounds of interviews. The interview is our chance to learn more about you and your suitability for the role. Here are some of the things we might cover:

  • Your academic background
    Your professional interests
  • Examples that demonstrate how you meet the selection criteria
  • Any questions about BG Private and our Graduate Program

Make a great first impression by arriving a few minutes early and dressing in a professional way. Should your interview take place over Zoom, remember to sit in a quiet spot with good internet connection, and remember that how you dress is still important.

What is a recruitment task?

Depending on the service line you would be joining, you may be asked to do a short assessment task that relates to the field. The task is designed to show how you work and how you solve problems. The task won’t take too long and clear information will be given on what is expected.

Who to list as a referee

It could be a teacher, tutor or one of your bosses. Someone who can give us information about your work ethic, skillset, and attitude.

Successful applications

We carefully select our Graduates, but we also like to move fast. If successful, we will likely make you an offer within a few days of your final interview and/or assessment task.

(The Graduate salary at BG Private is based on market rates.) No matter what, we will always let you know the outcome of your application.
